Can't access floppy drive

Under Windows Vista I can't access my floppy drive.
- It is shown in Computer as drive a: - It is shown as working correctly in Device Manager - Dual-boot PC - if I boot to Windows XP Pro instead, I can access it - However, if I double-click on it in Computer Windows Explorer, Explorer hangs.
This is what's in the event log:
Fault bucket 6036912, type 5 Event Name: AppHangB1 Response: None Cab Id: 287544579
Problem signature: Application Name: explorer.exe Application Version: 6.0.5384.4 Application Timestamp: 446d1b4f Hang Signature: 98b4 Hang Type: 0
- Computer works fine accessing other drives. - I can't access the drive by opening the command prompt and trying to get to a: either! The cursor just blinks and nothing happens. - I plugged in a USB floppy drive with which I can read/wriite/format floppy disks perfectly.
All this would make you think that the drive isn't working... apart from when booting to Win XP, it works perfectly. If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it - thanks!

Luckily enough, the problem went away after a couple of reboots, so it's okay now.
